Hobbie-Good

Have you ever had a hobby? or at least something that you would like to do? flowers, presents and most of all a wedding ring (sounds familiar... lyrics from: Tell Laura I love her)? blogging, surfing and gossiping? I believe many of us have our likes and dislikes, I have one too, and mine is something special and many people would not like to call it a hobby.

I love to collect bookmarks. Bookmarks? Those who knew me would question me, why in the world you like to collect bookmarks? Well, perhaps that's the cheapest activity I can get involved with. I started my collection in the late 90s when I started my secondary school, and since then on, I would visit bookstalls and gift shops to replenish my supplies of bookmarks. My collection of bookmarks are not those expensive ones, however, I do have expensive ones which are given to me as presents. My collections are all over the world; Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, China - (Shang Hai, Yun Nan, Bei Jing), UK, Scotland - Edinburg, Australia, Canada, Africa etc... Most of these foreign collection, I admit, are given by my friends as gifts. For those who know Daune, he is never a rich guy to buy bookmarks. My collection slowed down after I entered army, because of my schedule and the allowance given wasn't enough for me to spend on these 'luxurious' items. I kept these collection in one of the drawers on my table.

My drawer full of bookmarks and gifts

Sad to say the drawers are getting full and I had to think of ways to settle them in another home. The picture you see, this drawers are full of my bookmarks and cards given or collected from 1990s. So what does this show? I'm one of those who collects such cute stuff and keeps it! haha! To try my new handphone camera's phtographic capability, I took out my drawer of gifts - with bookmarks and cards occupy the majority, and took a picture of them. As I have 10 separate pictures of bookmarks, I decided not to take the rest of the gifts I've received for the past year. In my collection, I have bookmarks, from poetry, motivational, religious (Buddhist and Christianity), advertisements, travelling etc, and of different sizes.

Plans for the future collections
To end this bookie mark collection, I have to plan their future. I know as time goes by, the number of bookmarks will keep increasing and there'll be no more rooms for it. I'm still planning to come out with an album to keep all my bookmark collections but I know it'll cost a bomb (hint: birthday present for daune on the 22nd July, maybe get me more bookmarks and a big album to house my hundreds of bookmarks, thank you in very advance). Of course, I'll still take stock in for nice and good bookmarks. ;-)
