\(@@)/ 2006 Reflections \(@@)/

2006 will become history in a few hours time. As a time to come, its indeed a blessing to be part of the living who will witness and muak goodbye for tis year. Its indeed a challenging year for me as a Christian and as a student as well as a friend. I've been through a transition of new life from a ruan-jiao-bing (literal tanslation: soft legged soldier) to a student in NTU. Though I may not have gotten use to the new life I am now, but I have made an attempt to change it. There were many testings and challenges posted to the world in this year, which includes the screening of the movie "Da Vinci Code" which challenges the Christian thinking. People may think that the Christians are just being uptight, but the book challenges the truth and faith of many and affects many i the western world.

I had fallen into the Devil's trap some months ago, and truly to say, I've not shared with anyone yet. It has been kept in my heart for some time until I decided to walk out of it and face it. I've done something that was not allowed in the Christian world and this happen to be bugging me for a period of time. I admit that I'm literally down for that one month and I had not been quietly listen to the Lord for his directions, and I once heard an elderly Christian who mentioned that we have a freedom to choose what we want to do, but we have to bear the consequence of the things we do. This is very true to me as I'm now suffering the consequence of what I'm done. But I thank God for punishing me this way, at least he did not forsake me, he did not give up on me yet.

I've made some wishes for myself this year and I''ll make my reflections based on the wishes and commitment I've made.

2006 wishes:
Myself:
1) Love the Lord with all my heart!
As mentioned earlier, I fell down some months ago. I'm glad that the Lord has picked me up. "Never will He forsake me" (blible verse). I was thankful enough to have such a forgiving father then. AS for the rest of the year I have ups and downs in my heart for the Lord.

2) Slim down at least 2kg.. (Well set this minimum and achievable target)
Well?!?! I dunno cos I did not measure it. some say I've grown fatter while some say I've slimed down. which is true? You shall be the judge.

3) Treat everyone with the greatest respect. I should never show biase to anybody or to a particular group.

Well, I've not done my best yet, this shall be my next year's objective too.

4) Love others like myself. (Just like how Christ loves me)
Ha! Cannot evaluate.

5) Complete the Holy bible series once again
I'm thankful that I've done in by God's grace. I intend to go more indepth for some books.

6) Be a good Sunday School teacher, be committed to them and let them like and love me.
I'm thankful once again, cos I've gotten use to the new environment in the Children's ministry. I love the children and I believe my children has accepted me well enough.

7) Be a good friend, a listener and someone who can lean on and gives consturctive advices.
Cannot evaluate here.

8) Do my best in everything I can.
Haha! Dun know how to evaluate.

9) To spend time with my family and my dog.
Thankfully, I have spend more time with my family members this year. I will continue to maintain this relationship.

10) To spend my time wisely - by stop lazing around?
Have I? Up to you to decide.

2006 Commitments:
Committments I've made:
a) Band - To use my voice as a sacrifice to God. Glorifying Him with my voice.
I have done that. I thank God that he has given me the gift to sing and a wonderful voice (which some may differ, haha!). I shall continue to use my voice to worship him and to glorify him. During this year, He uses me as a pianist for prayer meetings and during the service (as the response song), I'm very grateful for that. I thank God for putting Yea Ling to teach us piano.

b) Esther Fellowship - Be a good pianist and an English teacher.
Thankfully, I have released the work of Esther Felloship since Jul 2006. And a good group of brethrens are running this ministry well.

c) Youth Care Group - Be a good leader, noticed our new friends' need, and care for them deeply.
Cannnot evaluate, this group has somehow taken over by another group.

d) Youth Cell-group - Love my sheeps, care for them and make them feel at home.
I'm very thankful to the Lord in this aspect. I shall share wif you why. Zhang Wei and I met many obstacles initially whereby people wif diff objectives are unwilling to come together as a group. This is mainly because they held different interest and ideas and are very busy with other things. To call them up was not an easy task. I can still remember clearly that our membership size never exceeds 5 people for the first few months. I had a hard time settling the group down, because this is a very new group. I thank God for Zhang Wei's support that I managed to pick the group up. The attendance has now increased to 80 to 95% weekly which is something very comforting and Liang Fa has joined in to serve with us as a leader too. I look forward to serving with them.

e) Children Sunday School - Committed, and be a good Sunday School Teacher.
See above

f) Special Programs' Committee - Be someone who contributes constructive ideas.
Took part in planning the Family Camp 2006. Had a wonderful experience overall.

g) Holy Communion Ministry - Dedicated to lead the congregation.
I have took down this ministry as I feel that I cannot concentrate in this minsitry. but thankful I have an understanding Pastor who's willing to let me go.

h) San Fu ministry - To bring in more first fruits to His ministry.
Cannot evaluate

i) Teaching Ministry - particularly BCL, bible study - Be in the sounded truth and teach accordingly.
I thank God that I;m able to lead Wei Song and Ji Bing in the BCL session. I hope they've learnt and grow in his word.

j) Tuition - Teach and care for my students' growth
I'm thankful to the Lord once again. It because the 2 girls I've taught are progressing very well in their work. At least they are improvements, especially Jennifer who scored 228 for her PSLE. I also brought them to church, and they've adapted very well here. I hope they'll continue to settle well in church and their mother will allow them to go to church.

k) ITI - Be someone who's dedicated in my work. Help others whenever necessary.
I handed my stuff to Shi Ming, my understudy. He's very capable and I belive he'll excel in his field of expertise.

l) To all my friends- To be a committed and true friend. Respect you and love u like myself.
I hope I've done well in coordinating with u ppl. Miss you guys for those I;ve not contacted.

Well 4 more hours before the 6 becomes 7.
