Went to watch the Battle of the Wits 《墨攻》 acted by Andy Lau and Nicky Wu. The movie describes the setting of the Pre-Qin dynasty (to be exact the East Zhou Dynasty where it was divided into 7 warring states era, haha! I studied this in my Literature class) where the Zhao state wanted to attacked the Yan state and has to enter a small state call Liang. Liang City is a small city with about 4000 people and can't afford to antagonise the Zhao's 100,000 strong army, so they call for help to the Mo-Zi (The family of Mo who were well-based in war who promotes harmony and love for all mankind). Andy Lau (Ge Li) from the Mo family came to rescue the Liang city despite opposition from the Mo family. Ge Li used wits to defeat the Zhao by killing 4000 of their soldiers. However, the king, due to his brutality and his greed, being coerce into thinking that Ge Li was there to upsurp rebellion and would eventually overthrow him. So the story ends in an upset way where the king killed Ge Li's supporter and the Zhao's gerneral who admired Ge Li.
This was a very nice movie I think, as it not only showcases the wits of Ge Li, it also display the brutality of War. One line from the movie that really hits my mind was “在战争里，谁不是无辜的。”, I was very touched by this line and really 'feel' for the line. Everyone is innocent in war and everyone has to suffer because of war because of the naive thinking that power can do anything. Another aspect of this movie would be the uncontrollable situations of man, though Ge Li was smart and won victory towards defending the Liang City, he was mistook by the King and the grand tutor as a rebellion, where he had to quietly ran away. We saw that people who loved Ge Li were killed by the greed and jealousy-filled king, which include his only son and many of the talent soldiers. War is cruel and these are the works of man. Pride is the root of all sin! Pride takes over our heart and that we yearn to conquer the world.

Therefore I would encourage all to watch the movie. Please don't buy pirated ones / download them.
